Find Your Passion

I want to take the time to talk about PASSION. The definition of passion is a strong and barely controllable emotion. Why am I even bothering to talk about passion? I feel that people have lost their 'passion' all together in every aspect of life. People go to work just to go to work or go the the gym just to go to the gym, but why don't we put some real feeling into what we are doing on a daily basis? I have found that being passionate about every aspect of my life has helped me achieve some major results. I am a results driven person, and once I see results, I want to see more and more!

If you are just living day to day and feel like there is nothing to look forward to and that it's 'just another day' try inserting some passion into your life! (I know you're getting tired of the word passion by now) but really think about it, set some goals for yourself in everything you do! Go to work a few minutes early and plan out your day, do a few extra things, go to the gym and do more than normal, be passionate about what you're doing!

If you're going to do something, why not be the best? Putting a little effort and thought into your work/relationships/life goes a long way.

Passion is when you put more energy into something than is required to do it. It is more than just enthusiasm or excitement, passion is ambition that is materialized into action to put as much heart, mind body and soul into something as is possible.

My challenge for you? Do more than the average person, strive to be the best in everything you do! I promise you it won't go unnoticed.

The Importance Of A Great Training Program

Here at Walker, we pride ourselves in our great training program. We believe the kind of training an employee receives is very important. The proper training is essential to the achievement of a business!

We focus more on the skills that are not necessarily related to our particular field. We believe that focusing on strong communication and interpersonal skills is the most effective. Other skills that should be emphasized are time management and how to build a strong team.

Our company thrives on the 'student mentality' concept, meaning we are always learning and always growing. The most effective employee training programs make continuing education an ongoing responsibility. Studies show that in training programs, most people only retain 40% of the information they have learned. This is yet another reason keeping that student mentality is key in our business!

Our managers are involved in our employee training programs as well! The managers act as a coach and  and provide feedback, give support and encouragement, guide the employees to their goals and suggest more effective strategies. The goal is to work smarter and not harder!

All in all, we believe we give our employees a top notch training program that will lead them to success and help them accomplish each and every one of their goals!

This weekend, WM&C will be traveling to Chicago for a leader's conference! It's so amazing to have opportunities to travel and meet new people!

These conferences are a great way to LEARN! Our company is all about keeping a mindset of always wanting to learn new things. You can never know too much, there is always something to learn! Our team will get the chance to network as well as see the sights of Chicago. Inspirational stories of staying persistent and effective at work will be shared, and guest speakers will encourage our team to keep at it !

Bringing new knowledge back to the office the week after a conference is always refreshing and almost like a 'new start.' Returning to work with a whole new attitude and passion for what we do is truly amazing. We are all so lucky to be a part of such an awesome company that gives us all the resources we need to succeed!

Hope Chicago is ready for us!!!! :)

Attitude, Attitude, ATTITUDE

I want to talk about something that is key in any situation, that is attitude! Want to know what your attitude is right now? Ask yourself these questions:

  • How would you describe your attitude right now?
  • What in your life currently helps your attitude? What hurts it?
  • If you keep the attitude you have right now, where will it take you in 5+ years?

A lot of people think there is nothing you can do about one's attitude, but Im here to tell you that you can do something about it ! Developing a good attitude is something anyone can learn. Here are some simple tasks you can do to help your good attitude!

  • EXERCISE! I know this isn't everyone's favorite thing to do, but it is good for your body AND mind. It's a great stress reliever and for me, it can change a bad mood to a great mood in no time! Give it a shot, you just might like it. :)
  • Surround yourself with positive people! Negativity and a bad attitude can rub off from one person to another just like a bad cold. It's not something you want to catch! Don't allow negative people to live in your life.
  • SMILE! :) Super corny, but it actually works. Even when you don't feel like it, put a smile on your face. Don't let your bad attitude show. Fake it till you make it. :)
  • Help others! This is one of my favorites. Helping others will make you feel accomplished and feel great about yourself. I make a point of doing one nice thing for someone daily (or more) something unexpected like paying for the stranger behind me in the drive thru their coffee for the day. Trust me it will boost your mood and people will see it!

A great attitude will take you a lot further than a negative attitude ever will.

We cannot change our past … we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you … we are in charge of our Attitudes.”– Chuck Swindoll, pastor, author

Want To Know What's Awesome?

Walker Marketing, that's what is awesome! I mean, what other company do you know that is merit based rather than seniority based? In the corporate world it's always the guy who has been there the longest who gets the big promotion, leaving the new guy who may work harder and have better ideas in the dust. In our world the guy who works his (or her) butt off is who advances the quickest! How awesome is that?!

Another AWESOME thing about WM&C is the great team environment! We all work hard but we also know how to have fun! Yes, we are super competitive, but we also help one another to hit our goals. It's a great feeling to truly enjoy the people you work with and enjoy coming in to work everyday!

A lot of companies have an "open door policy" but with us, we actually mean it! We listen to everyone's ideas-keyword there is LISTEN. We truly value everyone's opinion and want to hear their thoughts and ideas.

WE ARE GROWING! Walker is growing so fast we can barely keep up, but hey, we aren't complaining! We are great at what we do and it truly shows. The growth and advancement opportunities in the company are endless, and we are so proud of how far we've come!

The Importance Of Giving Back:Operation Smile

Here at Walker, we believe in giving back to our community. Every year we do different charity events, and we have worked with a variety of awesome organizations. We believe that giving back is a great opportunity to do things together as an office and help others out at the same time.

This month our office will be running an event for Operation Smile. Operation Smile is an international children's medical charity.  This charity takes its services to middle and low income countries, they are the largest volunteer-based children's medical charity providing free cleft surgeries.

Cleft lip and cleft palate are very serious conditions. A cleft is an opening in the lip, the roof of the mouth or the soft tissue in the back of the mouth. Children who have this condition will often have difficulty eating and speaking. At Operation Smile, they are constantly working to improve their understanding of cleft conditions as well as different treatment options. A donation of $240.00 can provide a cleft lip or cleft palate surgery. Operations Smile has more than 5,400 medical volunteers in over 80 countries!

Operation Smile is a great charity and is changing lives around the world. We are proud to support them! This month we will be hosting a corn hole tournament and all proceeds will go to Operation Smile! There is not better feeling than lending a helping hand to someone in need. Keep an eye out for the date of our corn hole tournament and come support Operation Smile with us!
