Attitude, Attitude, ATTITUDE

I want to talk about something that is key in any situation, that is attitude! Want to know what your attitude is right now? Ask yourself these questions:

  • How would you describe your attitude right now?
  • What in your life currently helps your attitude? What hurts it?
  • If you keep the attitude you have right now, where will it take you in 5+ years?

A lot of people think there is nothing you can do about one's attitude, but Im here to tell you that you can do something about it ! Developing a good attitude is something anyone can learn. Here are some simple tasks you can do to help your good attitude!

  • EXERCISE! I know this isn't everyone's favorite thing to do, but it is good for your body AND mind. It's a great stress reliever and for me, it can change a bad mood to a great mood in no time! Give it a shot, you just might like it. :)
  • Surround yourself with positive people! Negativity and a bad attitude can rub off from one person to another just like a bad cold. It's not something you want to catch! Don't allow negative people to live in your life.
  • SMILE! :) Super corny, but it actually works. Even when you don't feel like it, put a smile on your face. Don't let your bad attitude show. Fake it till you make it. :)
  • Help others! This is one of my favorites. Helping others will make you feel accomplished and feel great about yourself. I make a point of doing one nice thing for someone daily (or more) something unexpected like paying for the stranger behind me in the drive thru their coffee for the day. Trust me it will boost your mood and people will see it!

A great attitude will take you a lot further than a negative attitude ever will.

We cannot change our past … we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you … we are in charge of our Attitudes.”– Chuck Swindoll, pastor, author

Want To Know What's Awesome?

Walker Marketing, that's what is awesome! I mean, what other company do you know that is merit based rather than seniority based? In the corporate world it's always the guy who has been there the longest who gets the big promotion, leaving the new guy who may work harder and have better ideas in the dust. In our world the guy who works his (or her) butt off is who advances the quickest! How awesome is that?!

Another AWESOME thing about WM&C is the great team environment! We all work hard but we also know how to have fun! Yes, we are super competitive, but we also help one another to hit our goals. It's a great feeling to truly enjoy the people you work with and enjoy coming in to work everyday!

A lot of companies have an "open door policy" but with us, we actually mean it! We listen to everyone's ideas-keyword there is LISTEN. We truly value everyone's opinion and want to hear their thoughts and ideas.

WE ARE GROWING! Walker is growing so fast we can barely keep up, but hey, we aren't complaining! We are great at what we do and it truly shows. The growth and advancement opportunities in the company are endless, and we are so proud of how far we've come!

The Importance Of Giving Back:Operation Smile

Here at Walker, we believe in giving back to our community. Every year we do different charity events, and we have worked with a variety of awesome organizations. We believe that giving back is a great opportunity to do things together as an office and help others out at the same time.

This month our office will be running an event for Operation Smile. Operation Smile is an international children's medical charity.  This charity takes its services to middle and low income countries, they are the largest volunteer-based children's medical charity providing free cleft surgeries.

Cleft lip and cleft palate are very serious conditions. A cleft is an opening in the lip, the roof of the mouth or the soft tissue in the back of the mouth. Children who have this condition will often have difficulty eating and speaking. At Operation Smile, they are constantly working to improve their understanding of cleft conditions as well as different treatment options. A donation of $240.00 can provide a cleft lip or cleft palate surgery. Operations Smile has more than 5,400 medical volunteers in over 80 countries!

Operation Smile is a great charity and is changing lives around the world. We are proud to support them! This month we will be hosting a corn hole tournament and all proceeds will go to Operation Smile! There is not better feeling than lending a helping hand to someone in need. Keep an eye out for the date of our corn hole tournament and come support Operation Smile with us!

Think Big Win Big!

Everyone is looking for an opportunity. An opportunity to make a lot of money, or an opportunity to go on an awesome vacation. What I think a lot of people don't see is the opportunity with-in this wonderful company. If you are willing to put in the time and the work, you can be in charge of your own destiny. You are given every opportunity to succeed and given all the resources you can imagine to become great. The opportunities for advancement in your career are endless.

Last month at The Regional Conference in Orlando,Florida, we had an awards ceremony. At this ceremony there were multiple categories where people were winning awards for going above and beyond and reaching their goals. It was amazing to see all the hard working, dedicated professionals we work with. It is amazing to think "Wow! That could be me!"

My main reason for this blog is to talk about two awesome people in OUR office who won an award. A really amazing award, at that. The two people I am speaking of are the administrators in our office, Katelyn and Kalyn. (Really confusing I know) These two are simply amazing at what they do. Their job isn't easy and it's not everyone's cup of tea. What I am getting at is that these two girls have a great attitude EVERYDAY and are constantly pushing themselves to become better and better each day. They are always thinking BIG and WINNING big as well! At the awards ceremony, Katelyn and Kalyn were given an award for their help on opening up TWO new offices. The award wasn't the typical trophy or plaque, they both won Tiffany's necklaces! You can imagine how excited they both were!

In closing, I will leave you with one of my favorite quotes. "An amazing future awaits for those who have the courage to cast their vision and the will to follow it through."

Regional Awards Conference 2014 Orlando, Florida!

This past weekend, our office went to Orlando, Florida for the Regional Awards Conference! Management invited ten people from our office to attend the conference.

Every year, our organization attends these conferences. They are a great way to meet up with old friends and also meet some amazing new people. During the conference we attend different break outs and listen to many wonderful speakers. It's a great opportunity to learn new things and also share your knowledge with others.

This year's theme was "Think Big Win Big." This conference was extremely motivating. Seeing many different people achieving their goals and becoming so successful. This business is full of people who 'think big.' Everyone is always pushing one another to hit their goals and 'win big.'

It's truly amazing and eye opening to see all the opportunities our company has to offer. This conference left us all feeling more motivated than ever to hit our goals.

We truly have a great team here at Walker! So let's step up our game and take all the awards home next conference!!!! NEXT STOP IS THE BAHAMAS FOR R&R!

What's Your Excuse?

I was reading an article the other day that talked about things that go through our minds that hold us back from being/doing our best. I think everyone can relate to telling themselves "I'm not good enough." or "I'm not as good as ________ " These things are constantly holding us back from doing our best and reaching our full potential. You never know until you try, so why let these thoughts and EXCUSES run our lives?
Excuses are the victory speeches of losers! Below are some things to stop telling yourself!

1) "People will laugh at me"
Don't let this stop you. I think this is a common fear in everyone. We all think if we mess up and make a mistake we will be laughed at. Take a chance, go out on a limb and do what makes you happy.

2) "I'm not good enough"
You will NEVER be good enough if you don't try.

3) "I'm scared"
Fear is not real, it's all in your imagination! So why would you let something that isn't even real hold you back? Stop making up scenarios in your head and just do it!

4) "I'm not like (famous person,successful person)"
You are great in your own way! You will never be that person but you've got something even better if you would just believe in your abilities!

5) "I'm unlucky"
Luck alone will not bring you success. So be it lucky or unlucky, get off your butt and make things happen.
